Tour to Teror and San Mateo markets from Maspalomas, Playa del Ingles, Meloneras, San Agustin, Puerto Rico – Amadores, …

On our morning excursion to Teror and San Mateo, discover two of the most iconic towns in north-central Gran Canaria and visit their popular markets.

During the tour to these towns, you will see some of the lovely and enormous ravines typical of the island, such as Barranco de las Goteras and Barranco de la Mina.

Teror and San Mateo are located in the northern area of the island, more than 600 metres above sea level. Upon reaching these villages, you will observe that the green and fertile landscape that surrounds them is nothing like the arid and desert-like lands in the southern part of the island.

The markets of these two villages are very popular, and each one, on its own, attracts thousands of people every Sunday. San Mateo’s market is covered, located in two large halls, while Teror’s market is located in the streets that surround the church, in the open air.

Here you will find Gran Canaria’s famous cheese, the typical sausage of Teror or the island’s exquisite sweets.

If you are not familiar with these delicacies of Canarian cuisine, you can try them both at the stalls and in the numerous pubs and restaurants near the markets.

If you wish, come dance to famous Canarian, Spanish and international songs played live by local musicians.

Take advantage of the visit to Teror in order to get to know its old city centre, which is without doubt one of the most beautiful in Gran Canaria. Of particular note is Basilica de la Virgen del Pino, which houses the patron saint of Gran Canaria, as well as the colourful facades of the houses with pine balconies typical of the island.
