Tour to Teror and San Mateo markets from Maspalomas, Playa del Ingles, Meloneras, San Agustin, Puerto Rico - Amadores, ...
On our morning excursion to Teror and San Mateo, discover two of the most iconic towns in north-central Gran Canaria and visit their popular markets.
During the tour to these towns, you will see some of the lovely and enormous ravines typical of the island, such as Barranco de las Goteras and Barranco de la Mina.
Teror and San Mateo are located in the northern area of the island, more than 600 metres above sea level. Upon reaching these villages, you will observe that the green and fertile landscape that surrounds them is nothing like the arid and desert-like lands in the southern part of the island.
The markets of these two villages are very popular, and each one, on its own, attracts thousands of people every Sunday. San Mateo’s market is covered, located in two large halls, while Teror’s market is located in the streets that surround the church, in the open air.
In both markets, we will find stalls for food, crafts, jewellery, textiles, local products and toys.
Here you will find Gran Canaria’s famous cheese, the typical sausage of Teror or the island’s exquisite sweets.
If you are not familiar with these delicacies of Canarian cuisine, you can try them both at the stalls and in the numerous pubs and restaurants near the markets.
If you wish, come dance to famous Canarian, Spanish and international songs played live by local musicians.
Take advantage of the visit to Teror in order to get to know its old city centre, which is without doubt one of the most beautiful in Gran Canaria. Of particular note is Basilica de la Virgen del Pino, which houses the patron saint of Gran Canaria, as well as the colourful facades of the houses with pine balconies typical of the island.
In short, this excursion to Teror and San Mateo from the south of Gran Canaria will allow you to combine culture, popular traditions, history, beautiful landscapes, cuisine and shopping.
After doing this tour and returning to your hotel, we hope that you will feel as though you have enjoyed an excellent Sunday morning in northern Gran Canaria.

There was everything. Honey, eggs, bread, cheese, seasonal fruits and vegetables, jewellery stands … It's quite entertaining and a good plan for Sunday morning.
A pleasant morning. We found many typical products to buy and gift once we return from our trip. Teror and San Mateo are towns with a lot of charm and the markets have plenty to offer.
Good. I liked the Teror market most of all because it was free time, but the excursion was good in general.
We enjoyed getting to know the local culture and seeing the ambiance of the towns in the markets. Wonderful.

Thoroughly enjoyable way to visit Teror and San Mateo. Tom the guide was excellent from the minute he greeted us to the point we returned. Multilingual interesting explanations of the island, the areas we visited and lots of helpful tips on where to eat, find a loo etc. I enjoyed being in a smaller bus with people of different nationalities. Arrangements were made very clearly. The scenery was breathtaking, literally!
Nice. It's the only excursion that goes out on Sundays and it's good. The markets have everything, Teror is special and the journey is very beautiful.
Good plan for Sunday. We loved Teror and quite enjoyed the ambiance of the markets.
Well organized. My partner and I really enjoyed the entire excursion since, although the goal was to get to know Teror, we enjoyed the markets and the route to Teror.
Charming villages. You not only get to know the markets but also get to enjoy the ambiance of San Mateo and Teror and walk through the typical streets. We liked it a lot.
Recommended. Worthwhile because in addition to seeing the two towns, you could get to know the culture, folklore and Canarian cuisine in the market stalls, in the restaurants, walking down the streets…
Worthwhile. There were no other excursions to do on Sunday and we wanted to get to know Teror. We loved it and enjoyed the two markets very much.
Beautiful excursion. We really liked the landscape in northern Gran Canaria and had a very pleasant time in the markets and touring the streets of the two towns.
A different morning. It's the only excursion that goes out on Sundays and we loved being able to get to know two of the island's most well-known markets in the same morning.
Great. The excursion is wonderful for getting to know the north of the island, which is very green and has spectacular valleys, for visiting the village of Teror and for shopping for anything in the markets.
Worthwhile. It's very good for getting to know the towns of Teror and San Mateo and for enjoying the ambiance of the markets. We were delighted by the variety of things there were.

Great plan to go shopping and get to know the island.
We recommend it. My two children, my husband and I went and we really liked everything, including the two markets and the beauty of the two towns.
The best part was getting to know the towns. We enjoyed walking through the streets of Teror and San Mateo, and we even want to return on days when there is no market.
